Are you an experienced Financial Controller ready to make an impact? One of our top clients is seeking a professional to oversee the financial operations of their MEP contracting and maintenance business, ensuring strong cost control, accurate reporting, and strategic financial oversight.
What's expected of you?
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in line with GAAPSME standards
- Prepare cash flow forecasts to maintain strong liquidity at both company and project level
- Monitor financial KPIs, project performance metrics, cost-to-complete (CTC), and work-in-progress (WIP)
- Develop annual budgets and rolling financial forecasts
- Oversee cost allocation across MEP project components, including labour, materials, subcontractors, and equipment
- Review project cost reports, margin variances, and revenue recognition based on project progress
- Validate project managers’ cost-to-complete projections and margin forecasts
- Ensure accurate job costing processes and proper classification of direct and indirect project costs
- Monitor procurement activities to ensure alignment with budgets and cost controls
- Manage cash flow planning and liquidity requirements for current and upcoming projects
- Oversee collections, retention releases, supplier payments, subcontractor valuations, and certification cycles
- Optimize working capital through effective negotiation of payment terms and retention schedules
- Monitor bank facilities, guarantees, and other project-related financial instruments
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls, particularly around project costing and procurement
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory audits, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain and enhance financial policies, SOPs, and operational workflows
- Supervise the finance team, including accounts payable, receivables, project accountants, and payroll
- Support staff development through training, coaching, and performance management
- Promote collaboration across departments including operations, project management, procurement, and HR
What are you expected to bring?
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, or ACA is preferred
- Minimum of 7–10 years’ experience in financial management, including at least 3 years within an MEP or construction environment
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition in contracting businesses, including cost-to-cost and percentage-of-completion methods
- Proven experience managing complex project accounting and multi-year contract cycles
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel modelling
- Solid knowledge of tax regulations, audit procedures, and regulatory compliance
