One of our top clients within the hospitality industry is looking for a Group Financial Controller to drive financial discipline, ensure consistent reporting standards, and safeguard the integrity of financial information across the business.
What's expected of you?
- Provide financial leadership while ensuring the consistent application of accounting policies, financial standards, and strong internal controls across the organisation
- Take ownership of financial control, group consolidation processes, and both internal and external financial reporting across the business
- Act as a trusted finance partner to senior leadership, providing objective insights, challenge, and strategic recommendations
- Lead the preparation and consolidation of accurate and timely financial reports, including management accounts and cash flow statements, with clear commentary against budgets
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring disciplined timelines, accuracy, and high-quality financial outputs
- Develop, implement, and continuously enhance financial policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
- Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts while monitoring financial performance, analysing variances, trends, and risks, and translating data into actionable insights
- Partner with operational leaders to drive improvements in profitability, cost efficiency, and overall financial performance
- Oversee cash flow management, liquidity planning, and working capital optimisation while supporting capital expenditure planning and robust return-on-investment analysis
- Identify financial and operational risks and work proactively with leadership teams to mitigate exposure
- Take ownership of financial systems, reporting structures, and data integrity while driving the standardisation of the chart of accounts, reporting formats, and financial processes
- Lead initiatives to improve efficiency, automation, and scalability of the finance function in line with business growth
- Lead audit processes and act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, ensuring compliance with statutory reporting, tax regulations, and other regulatory obligations
- Oversee tax planning, filings, and compliance in collaboration with external advisors and present financial reports to the Audit Committee of the Group’s finance company
- Provide leadership and functional oversight to the finance team, developing talent through coaching and mentoring while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Support group expansion initiatives, new openings, structural changes, and group-wide financial projects, providing ad hoc analysis as required by senior leadership
What are you expected to bring?
- Degree in Accountancy from the University of Malta, ACCA/ACA, or an equivalent accounting qualification. Preference will be given to warrant holders
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a financial leadership role, ideally within the hospitality industry. Candidates with prior professional training at a Big Four firm followed by experience in hospitality will be highly regarded
- Strong proficiency in financial systems, reporting tools, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Solid expertise in financial reporting standards, tax compliance, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and strategic financial planning
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation
- A hands-on and adaptable approach, with the ability to operate both strategically and operationally in a fast-paced environment
