We are currently supporting a growing Maltese Corporate Services Provider in their search for an MLRO & Compliance Officer to lead the organisation’s regulatory compliance and financial crime prevention activities.
What’s expected of you?
- Act as the appointed Money Laundering Reporting Officer and Compliance Officer.
- Oversee and continuously enhance the company’s AML/CFT framework, controls, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct transaction monitoring, investigate suspicious activity, and submit Suspicious Activity Reports to the FIAU where required.
- Manage sanctions screening, PEP monitoring, and Enhanced Due Diligence processes for higher-risk clients.
- Ensure that KYC, Customer Due Diligence, and record-keeping requirements are applied consistently across the organisation.
- Act as the primary contact with the MFSA for regulatory matters, reporting, audits, and compliance reviews.
- Implement and maintain an effective compliance monitoring programme in collaboration with the Executive Director and Group Compliance Team.
- Advise senior management on regulatory developments, internal governance requirements, and financial services legislation.
- Conduct internal compliance audits and recommend improvements to policies, procedures, and controls.
- Prepare compliance and regulatory reports for senior management and relevant authorities.
- Deliver training and awareness sessions covering AML/CFT, regulatory obligations, data protection, and ethical business practices.
What are you expected to bring?
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Business, or another relevant discipline.
- A minimum of four years’ experience in regulatory compliance, AML/CFT, financial services, or a related regulated environment.
- Previous experience as an MLRO, Compliance Officer, or within a comparable senior Compliance or Financial Crime position.
- Strong practical knowledge of Maltese AML/CFT requirements, FIAU guidance, MFSA requirements, and relevant EU financial crime regulations.
- Experience with suspicious activity investigations, regulatory reporting, CDD, EDD, sanctions, and PEP-related risks.
- Familiarity with goAML or comparable regulatory reporting tools and transaction-monitoring systems.
- Experience liaising with regulators, managing regulatory submissions, and supporting compliance reviews or audits.
- Existing MFSA PQ approval is not mandatory. However, the successful candidate must be clearly eligible and prepared to enter and complete the applicable MFSA approval process.
- Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder-management, and risk-based decision-making skills.
- A clean professional record with no history of regulatory breaches or professional misconduct.
- Experience within a Corporate Services Provider will be considered a strong advantage.
