Our client, a prominent organisation in the retail and distribution sector, is currently seeking a Senior Inventory Accountant to manage and optimise their inventory valuation and reporting processes.
What is expected of you?
- Oversee and manage all aspects of inventory accounting, including cost of goods sold, inventory valuation, and obsolescence reserves.
- Perform regular reconciliations of inventory balances between the general ledger and subsidiary records.
- Analyse inventory variances and implement corrective actions to ensure accuracy and integrity of data.
- Prepare detailed inventory reports and provide insights to management for strategic decision making.
- Collaborate with procurement, operations, and sales teams to ensure accurate inventory tracking and costing.
- Assist with month end and year end closing procedures related to inventory.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to inventory.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of inventory accounting policies, procedures, and systems.
What are you expected to bring?
- Possess a professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent.
- Demonstrate a minimum of three years of experience in an inventory accounting role.
- Exhibit advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and complex formulas.
- Show a strong understanding of inventory valuation methods and cost accounting principles.
- Display excellent analytical and problem solving abilities with a keen eye for detail.
- Be proficient in using accounting software and ERP systems.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively within a team.
- Be legally eligible to work in Malta.
- Experience with large scale inventory management systems.
- Previous exposure to the retail or distribution industry.
